Bottom line: If you have a background in research methods and are wanting to learn about some rare gems, the Breakwell book would probably suit that purpose. However, if you just want an easy guide to research methods that covers all of the common scenarios in a very readable and clear fashion, I would recommend the Trochim text --hands down.
